First Amendment Grants is a program of support for emerging filmmakers, or filmmakers who are unable to find funding for their projects. Those having gone through the long and arduous effort to compete for grant money and have been turned down need only bring their rejection letter and they will receive aid to make their movie.

First Amendment Grants are non-monetary grants that allow use of our facilities and equipment with which to make or complete their film in digital video formats. The grants are calculated in terms of the actual costs of the equipment and studio time being granted, and these calculations can then be included as monetary value in further grant applications.

Films that have received grants have ranged included a documentary on bike messengers in San Francisco and their fight to be recognized in accident reports by the police; a film about extreme wilderness sports; expanding the international, award-winning short "Butch Body Blues" into a full-length film; over 50 news items for national broadcast on news stations; and many more projects.
