The Vreeland Costume Shop is named after Martha Vreeland, costumer for the National Ballet of Washington. It is fully equipped with industrial sewing machines, pattern drafting tools, an industrial ruffler, cutting table and overlock machines. Our library of patterns includes authentic period patterns, as well as original patterns from designers like Peter Farmer and Paul Tazewell. Students are taught pattern drafting, costume design, history of costume, history of dance costume, millinery, costume construction, tutu building, and period draping at various levels of their education in the Academy's General Arts Program. To contribute to any of the current MFAB programs or future projects, send your contribution check with the specific program clearly indicated in the memo line. Otherwise, contributions will be accepted for general operating expenses. All contributions are fully tax-deductible.
