Studio Arts encompass drawing, sculpture, painting, composition, costuming,
stage settings, graphic arts and design. A dancer is a living paintbrush in the
hands of the choreographer, and the stage is the three dimensional canvas of
the proscenium stage. The more a dancer understands the whole design and
impact of the picture in which s/he dances, the more effective will be their
artistic decissions of how to best interpret the part they are dancing.

Students at the academy begin with basic courses in scuplture (to begin to
understand the interplay between positive and negative space), and go on to
develop skills in drawing, design, costuming, stage set construction, etc.
