The Dance Classics Library Productions have already been started through the audio and video production facilities currently at MFAB. The planned Library will include an ever-expanding educational DVD series for the purpose of educating current youth and future generations. While the envisioned American National Ballet has access to 300 communities nation wide via the vast network of US railroad terminals, there are tens of thousands more communities without that access. In addition, the state of the national economy and demands on educational budgets are shrinking the resources available to arts programs in schools across America. Yet nearly every study of education calls for stronger arts programs to build our national cultural heritage. The Dance Classics Library Productions of the American National Ballet help fill that growing gap. We will produce a comprehensive series of DVD productions with educational guides for teachers. Because lengths of dances vary, we are able offer many different lengths of programs. Each DVD includes a high quality, world-class performance of a ballet that can be shown in the classroom. The varying lengths of the productions allow the teacher to draw from this library as their available classroom time permits. The DVD library is offered for grades K-2, 3-6, 7-8, and 9-12. Each grade level will have a complete library of appropriate works for that age group, along with special features geared specifically for students of those ages. The special features also include a Town-Hall meeting with children of that age group asking questions of the different artistic and technical staff members that interest them. By utilizing the Open Stage Q&A series, American National Ballet is able to periodically update the series with supplemental disks. The teacher/student response forms allow a dialog as to the effectiveness of the programming for the different age groups, and guide us as we continue to refresh and update the library. Distribution of the Dance Classics Library Productions DVDs will be fully funded through grants and contributions, including postage, so that every school in America is able to order the library free of charge, and replacement disks are also available if some are lost or damaged. In addition, individuals are able to purchase the DVD series online for personal use. |
